HUMAN GENETICS UNIT

 

The clinical trials group of the Human Genetics Unit was set up to undetake industry sponsored clinical trials in Sri Lanka with the collaboration of clinicians in various institutions communing under the Minstry of Health, Sri Lanka. The availability of large numbers of patients and well trained clinicians, a very good system of ethics review, and an efficent regulatory process implemented through the Drug Regulatory Authority of the Ministry of Health make it possible to run clinical trials in Sri Lanka according to ICH-GCP guidlines. In addition The Sri Lanka Clinical Trials Registry is a WHO recognised primary trials register.

 

Currently we are runnng the first industry sponsored Phase II trial in Sri Lanka - A Dose Optimisation Study of ART621 in Subjects Diagnosed With Rheumatoid Arthritis Taking Methotrexate - in collaboration with rheumatology colleagues of the National Hospital of Sri Lanka in Colombo.
