MSc Courses
The Human Genetics Unit, in collaboration with the Institute of Medical Genetics, University of Oslo, Norway will commence two MSc Courses in August 2010. They are MSc in Clinical Genetics and MSc in Genetic Diagnostics.
The courses are funded under the NOMA programme which is funded by NORAD and managed by the Norwegian Centre for International Cooperation in Higher Education.
All selected students will receive a full scholarship to cover tution fees and a monthly stipend of about Rs. 30,000/-. The two students who obtain the best results in the first year in each course will receive funding to carryout the second year research project at the Institute of Medical Genetics, University of Oslo, Norway.

Applications were closed on 30 June 2010. New applications will not be accepted.
1. The selection examination will consist of two parts – a written examination and a viva voce.
2. The written examination will be a 90 minute paper with 3 (three) structured essay type questions.
3. The recommended reading material is: i) ABC of Clinical Genetics; ii) Medical Genetics at a Glance.
4. The written paper will be held from 9 am to 10.30 am at the Faculty of Medicine, University of Colombo on 17 July 2010.
5. The viva voce examinations will be held after that. The dates and times will be notified later.
6. The course commencement date is 2 August 2010.
The course was officially launched at the Satellite Meeting on Medical Genetics at the of the 123rd Annual Sessions of the Sri Lanka Medical Association on 4 June 2010.
